WHAT IS A SELF-PACED COURSE?

Selected math courses are offered in an alternate-paced format allowing you to finish a course at a flexible pace and provides flexibility in scheduling your class attendance hours.

The Self-Paced Math Lab is open Monday through Thursday (Spring and Fall), and Saturday for you to schedule your class study hours, attend help sessions, and take tests. Instructors and lab assistants are available in an open lab setting to provide instruction, personalized assistance, and develop individualized study plans. To facilitate learning, various resources are available such as written materials, tutoring, video lectures, computer tutorials, group study, and practice quizzes.

Self-paced courses are held in room C&L 104 (close to Student Success Center – Writing Lab).

WHAT CLASSES ARE OFFERED IN THE SELF-PACED FORMAT?



The Traditional Pre-Transfer Courses provides the same traditional material and credit as in the past. Enrollment in these pre-transfer courses are offered by petition only and only to AB1705-eligible student. Come talk to us to explore your options.

  • MATH A008 – (3.0 units) PRE-ALGEBRA
  • MATH A030 – (4.0 units) INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA
  • MATH A045 – (6.0 units) ELEMENTARY & INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA

 

Transfer courses provides the same traditional material and credit as in the past. Students can enrolled online and attend orientation during the first week of class. 

  • MATH A120 – (3 .0 units) TRIGONOMETRY

EARLY START AND SUMMER ORIENTATION INFORMATION

A one-hour orientation is required for student to be informed of Self-paced Math and Math Jam guidelines. Students are required to attend a one-hour orientation. You may choose to do an EARLY START ORIENTATION the semester before or wait until the FIRST WEEK OF REGISTERED TERM for the orientation. 

Starting on Wednesday, May 10th through Wednesday, May 24th drop-in orientations will be offered during class hours for Early Start Summer (and/or) Fall students. By attending this orientation, you will find out if this class is a right choice for you. If it is not, you still have time to find an alternative option.

Early Start Orientation Time (now until 5/24/2023)
Monday & Wednesday:   2 pm and 3 pm
Tuesday & Thursday:    3 pm and 5 pm
Saturday:   11 am

All registered students must attend the orientation. YOU WILL BE DROPPED AS NO SHOW if you DO NOT attend the orientation by the census date (1st week of Summer and 2nd week of Fall).
